"There are no communications more important to the safety of the United States than those related to al Qaeda that have one end in the United States," Cheney said. "If we'd been able to do this before 9/11, we might have been able to pick up on two of the hijackers who flew a jet into the Pentagon."

I couldn't help but think when I read this that looking back at 2005 it seems that faulty communications between the folks in Louisiana and Mississippi and FEMA, the Dept of Homeland Security and pretty much everyone in the federal goverment proved to be much more dangerous to the US than al Qaeda. I'm no fan of terrorists and I certainly think it is a most serious issue, but please. The safety of the United States was compromised on a thousand different levels that had nothing to do with al Qaeda last year. Don't expect us to forget Katrina and replace those images with pictures of 9/11.

Please.
