I've been looking at song lyrics trying to find a title for my YA dragon book. This is largely a stalling tactic - one would not want to have the book written before they found a title, now would one? naaaah.

I hate my Alaska flying book title (hence the fact that it is constantly referred to as "the Alaska flying book"). I know the power of a good title - I am ruthless when it comes to choosing books for review and titles have a huge impact in that decision. (So does jacket design - go ahead and hate me for being shallow.) I do read summaries, but I have to get to the summary and if the title is bad or bland or boring then I might very well not pick up the book.

Oh how I do hate myself a bit for admitting that.

Right now I have "Ak flying book" and "YA Dragon book". It's like some sort of pitiful corner of writer's hell or something. It's not major league hell - got the ideas, got the stories, hell I even have book #1 done and off to agent (revised version) - but it's still a frustrating problem. So I went to the alter of Dave Matthews looking for inspiration. I'll get back to you when that bolt of lightening shows up.

In other news, my review of Come Closer is up at the Voices of NOLA - if you like scary in a good way, in a deeply atmospheric and well written and dare I say literary way - then this is the book for you. You can also check out author Sara Gran's site and get all sorts of insight into the mind behind the book.

And if you want to see some amazing artwork, check out James Skvarch's work. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous.
