For those of you have contacted me about my request for ARCs and review copies to kids held in juvenile detention in New Orleans, here is an email I received just the other day:

Thanks to all of you who have emailed Nik to let the crew know that books are on the way. As soon as I hear what has arrived I will let everyone know (since they are going book rate and it is New Orleans, it takes about two weeks). If you haven't sent anything, please feel free to put a box together and email Nik (twista@riseup.net) when it is on the way. Also, if you don't have anything lying around but would still like to help, feel free to the hit the Powells list (colleenatchasingraydotcom - fix the "at" and "dot" appropriately - is the address for the "friend's list" you are looking for) and choose something off our list. I'm constantly adding copies and that sort of thing to the list, so there will always be something there you could send (and used copies are just fine.)
Also, for those of you wondering about the You Should Read This Awards - well, holy cow!!! Talk about a huge success! I'll be collating the results this week and plan to have a super huge coming-of-age reading list for everyone to peruse at the end of the week. Feel free to still nominate if you haven't done it yet. This is just looking like a great list and I'm thrilled by everyone's response.
