A flurry of activity in the past few days which included:
1. Final touches on a ton of KidLit Con issues which means you will be hearing from us shortly with a call for panels and as soon as the hotel gets the contract in our hands (any day, any hour, any second!!!), you will be able to register!!!! Huzzah!!
2. Some grand surprises with the con this year, so excited to share them with you!
3. Read the last book for the June column which ended being a fabulous steampunk/mystery mash-up that is quite dreary in a Victorian Londonish kind of way but also the best kind of summer reading because it is truly seat of the pants action and excitement and quite smart and I enjoyed it every second. More on it here and my review in a few weeks, of course!
4. And I've been working on my book! What - yes - this is the book that is due out this fall and yes it's already written but OH MY GOODNESS NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THE EDITORIAL LETTER. This is a deep dark writer's secret that is kept from fledgling authors because if they knew it was coming, after the wonderfulness of selling their book, then they would positively LOSE THEIR MINDS IN FEAR! So yes, I received this lovely note from my editor telling me how much she loves the book and attached was my entire manuscript with small notes/questions on EVERY SINGLE PAGE.
I very nearly died.
This weekend was very nearly the end of it. I wish I could have gotten through it all sooner but I was in Florida when it arrived and then when we got back my husband left for Alaska for our new business and I have been knee deep in household/new business stuff every blessed second. And so while I could deal with all the easy bits (punctuation, word changes) the larger bits (like, "tighten up this whole chapter) had to be set aside. I got to most of them this weekend but there are still a couple more issues to go through.
Still - it will be sent back early, beating my deadline!!!, by the end of the week. And then...
5. I get my June column completed!
6. And clean my office because it is frightful!
7. And scan in the first pics from my great grandmother's photo albums which I am dying to share with both family and friends which includes you!
Whew!
8. Finally, it has been raining, raining, raining and while everything is a lovely deep green color that I truly can't get enough of, I AM READY FOR THE SUN!!! Here's hoping it shows up soon so I can return to the flip flop/shorts/t-shirt bliss I was enjoying in FL (without the 90 degree temps they now have).
9. Ooops - almost forgot to send out another pitch for the Guys Lit Wire Book Fair for Ballou Sr High School! Please dig deep and send those kids some book love - the wish list will be up through the end of the week (extended just a wee bit as blogger lost its mind last week) and we still hold out hope for a sellout. Help us get there, please please please!

So happy to hear that you got through that letter of yours. It is always a push and it always seems remarkable and it tests the marathon writer/dreamer in us all.
And then, and then: You have your book.
